A fast-sinking, natural caddis pupa that covers the prime part of the hatch. The Olive Bead Head Caddis Pupa pairs a slim, olive body with a bright bead for quick depth, imitating the ascending pupa trout key on in riffles and runs.
-
When it excels: Late spring through early fall during caddis activity; riffles, knee-deep runs, and soft edges before dusk
-
Why it works: Olive pupa profile and subtle sheen look alive; bead head gets the fly down and keeps it in the strike zone, then rises naturally on the lift
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable, bottom-tracking drifts
How to fish it
Dead-drift under an indicator at ~1.5× water depth or tightline/Euro with steady contact; add a small split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking bottom. At the end of each drift, lift the rod to swing the fly upward like an emerging pupa. In lakes, suspend 3–6 ft under an indicator or slow hand-twist along drop-offs.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion.
