A high-floating, confidence terrestrial for summer banks and riffle seams. The Brown/Tan Chernobyl Ant uses an earthy two-tone foam body and lively rubber legs to throw a natural yet bold silhouette that draws explosive topwater eats—even in choppy water.
-
When it excels: Summer–early fall, windy afternoons, along grassy banks, undercuts, and foam lines
-
Why it works: Buoyant double-foam rides high and stays visible; rubber legs pulse and twitch like a real terrestrial; brown/tan combo looks natural in clear water
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook); also effective for opportunistic bass and panfish
-
Ready to fish: Durable foam and tight wraps; consistent proportions for clean drifts
How to fish it
Dead-drift with short, accurate casts tight to banks, then add occasional micro-twitches. Run it as a hopper-dropper with 16–24" of tippet to a small nymph or midge. Use a 7.5–9 ft leader with 3–4X tippet in mixed water; step down in ultra-clear conditions.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing. Refresh floatation with a powder/shake desiccant if needed.
Satisfaction
