A classic, high-floating attractor that just gets attention. The Renegade’s peacock-herl body and fore-and-aft hackle (grizzly and brown) throw a loud, buggy footprint that tempts trout even when no specific hatch is on—and it’ll keep riding high in riffles and pocket water.
-
When it excels: Late spring through fall; prospecting new water; riffles, pocket water, and breezy afternoons; also effective on stillwaters
-
Why it works: Peacock shimmer and double hackle create flash and surface disturbance while the slim waist keeps a believable insect profile
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook); bonus panfish on ponds
-
Ready to fish: Durable tie with consistent proportions; floats a very light dropper
How to fish it
Dead-drift across seams and pocket edges with short, accurate casts; add tiny skitters or micro-twitches to wake fish in broken water. If it dunks and sinks, keep fishing it— the Renegade also produces as a wet on the swing. Use a 7.5–9 ft leader with 4–5X in riffles; lengthen and lighten in slicks.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing. Dress hackle lightly with gel/paste; revive after a dunk or fish with a powder/shake desiccant.
Satisfaction
30-day returns/exchanges.
