An all-season, buggy nymph with quick depth and a natural olive tone. The Hare’s Ear Bead Nymph (Olive) keeps the classic spiky hare’s-mask body and copper rib, then adds a bright bead—delivering a lifelike mayfly/caddis profile that trout trust in riffles and knee-deep runs.

  • When it excels: Spring through fall around olive-leaning mayfly/caddis activity; riffles, pocket water, and soft inside seams
  • Why it works: Olive, spiky dubbing and guard hairs suggest legs and gills; bead drives fast sink and steady, bottom-hugging drifts; slim segmentation reads “natural” in clear water
  • Pack size: 3 flies
  • Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
  • Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable presentations

How to fish it

Dead-drift under an indicator at ~1.5× water depth or tightline/Euro with steady contact; add a small split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking. Run it as the point fly and trail a tiny midge or pheasant tail 12–18" behind. Finish each drift with a gentle lift to flash the thorax like an ascending nymph.

Care

Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion. Smooth dubbing fibers if they matte after a fish.
