A fast-sinking, confidence nymph with extra movement. The Rubber Leg Bead Head Prince keeps the classic Prince profile—peacock body, white biot wings, and copper rib—then adds a bright bead and kicking rubber legs for a bold, leggy look that crushes in riffles and pocket water.
-
When it excels: Spring through fall; riffles, knee-deep runs, and pocket water; after light rain bumps; clear to lightly stained flows
-
Why it works: Bead drives quick depth and balance; peacock herl + white wings are a proven trigger; rubber legs add lifelike pulse that stands out in chop
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable, bottom-tracking drifts
How to fish it
Dead-drift under an indicator at ~1.5× water depth or tightline/Euro with steady contact; add a small split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking bottom. Run it as the point fly and trail a smaller midge or pheasant tail 12–18" behind. Finish each drift with a gentle lift to flash the wings like an ascending nymph.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion. Smooth rubber legs if they kink after a fish.
