A fast-sinking, natural larva for year-round confidence. The Tan Bead Head Caddis Larva pairs a slender, softly segmented tan body with a bright bead for quick depth, matching common caddis larvae trout graze in riffles and knee-deep runs.
-
When it excels: Spring through early fall during caddis activity; riffles, pocket water, and soft inside seams; cold mornings when fish hold near bottom
-
Why it works: Tan, buggy segmentation looks like real larvae while the bead drives the fly into the strike zone and keeps drifts tight to the substrate
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable, bottom-tracking drifts
How to fish it
Dead-drift under an indicator at ~1.5× water depth or tightline/Euro with steady contact; add a small split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking. Run it as the point fly and trail a smaller pupa or midge 12–18" behind. Finish each drift with a gentle lift to suggest an ascending pupa.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion.
