A realistic, year-round nymph that imitates freshwater scuds (shrimp). The Grey Scud’s translucent grey body, curved scud back, and subtle ribbing create a juicy, natural profile that shines in tailwaters, weedbeds, and slow edges where trout graze.
-
When it excels: All season—especially autumn through spring; tailwaters, weedlines, inside bends, and soft shelves
-
Why it works: Semi-translucent grey body and segmentation look like the real thing; slim profile rides low and stays in the strike zone
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook); bonus takes from stillwater panfish
-
Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable, bottom-tracking drifts
How to fish it
Dead-drift near the bottom under an indicator or on a tightline/Euro rig; add a tiny split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking. Shorten drifts and adjust depth frequently. Pair with a midge, small mayfly, or egg 12–18" away to cover multiple food items.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion.
Satisfaction
30-day returns/exchanges.
