A tiny, fast-sinking midge pupa for cold, clear conditions. The Bead Head Zebra Midge (Olive) pairs a slim olive body with crisp ribbing and a bright bead to get down quickly—perfect for tailwaters, spring creeks, and picky trout that graze mid-column.
-
When it excels: Late fall through spring; overcast days; tailouts, soft seams, and slow runs on freestones and tailwaters
-
Why it works: Olive, segmented body matches common midge pupae; bead adds a subtle trigger and quick depth for long, drag-free drifts
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Sparse, durable tie with consistent proportions for delicate presentations
How to fish it
Dead-drift under an indicator with light tippet or tightline/Euro with steady contact; adjust depth until you tick occasionally. During active midge hatches, run it 12–24" below a small dry (griffith’s/CDC midge) or suspend mid-column; finish each drift with a gentle lift to suggest the ascent.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion.
