A crisp, low-riding mayfly dry with a subtle trigger. The Adams Female Parachute keeps the classic Adams colorway but adds a tiny yellow egg-sac at the tail; the parachute post and hackle let it ride flush in the film for natural, drag-free drifts you can actually see.
-
When it excels: Spring through fall during mixed mayfly hatches and evening egg-laying; gentle riffles, seams, and glassy tailouts
-
Why it works: Parachute footprint sits in the film like a real dun; the small yellow egg-sac is a lifelike cue that turns inspections into eats
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Sparse, durable tie with consistent proportions and an easy-to-track post
How to fish it
Use a 9–12 ft leader with 5X–6X and make reach or slack-line casts to feed the drift along soft seams and rise rings. Add tiny micro-twitches near dusk to mimic egg-laying passes; if refusals start, drop one size or switch to a rusty spinner as the light fades.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing. Dress the post and hackle lightly with gel/paste; revive after a dunk or fish with a powder/shake desiccant, keeping the abdomen mostly untreated.
Satisfaction
