A low-riding, natural mayfly dry for early spring hatches. The Light Hendrickson’s pale tan/pink-cream body and upright dun wings create a crisp mayfly silhouette that fools selective trout in gentle riffles, seams, and glassy tailouts.
-
When it excels: Early spring (Hendrickson hatch), late morning through evening on clear freestones and tailwaters
-
Why it works: Light body tone matches the female Hendrickson; sparse hackle and upright wings sit correctly in the film for dead-drifted, natural presentations
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Sparse, durable tie with consistent proportions for lifelike drifts
How to fish it
Use a 9–12 ft leader with 5X–6X and make reach casts to feed slack for drag-free drifts along soft seams and glide edges; if refusals start, step down tippet and switch to an emerger before the hatch or a rusty spinner near dusk. Dress the wing and thorax lightly; keep the abdomen mostly untreated for a natural ride.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing; refresh floatation with a powder/shake desiccant as needed.
