A big, confidence stonefly nymph for pushing water and getting noticed. Pat’s Rubber Legs in Black throws a chunky, leggy profile with lively rubber legs that kick and pulse—perfect for fast runs, pocket water, and post-rain stain when fish want a bold meal near the bottom.
-
When it excels: Spring runoff and post-rain bumps; riffles, pocket water, and deep seams; cold mornings when trout hug the bottom
-
Why it works: Dark, high-contrast silhouette plus rubber-leg movement stands out in speed and stain; sinks quickly for long, ticking drifts
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook); also tempts river smallmouth
-
Ready to fish: Durable wraps and consistent proportions for repeatable presentations
How to fish it
Dead-drift close to the bottom under an indicator or tightline/Euro; add split shot 8–12" above if you aren’t ticking. Run it as the point fly and trail a smaller mayfly or midge 12–18" behind. In heavy water, short-line through seams and pocket edges and finish with a gentle lift.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing to prevent hook corrosion.
Satisfaction
