A high-floating caddis dry with extra “buggy” shimmer. The Peacock Caddis pairs an iridescent peacock-herl body with a buoyant elk-hair wing and palmered hackle, throwing a crisp caddis silhouette that stays visible and dances naturally over riffles and pocket water.
-
When it excels: Late spring through early fall; evening caddis activity; riffles, pocket water, and windy afternoons
-
Why it works: Peacock herl adds lifelike flash while elk hair and hackle keep it riding high for long, drag-free drifts
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Durable tie with consistent proportions; floats a light dropper
How to fish it
Dead-drift along seams and pocket edges, then add short skitters or micro-twitches over riffles to trigger slashing eats. For a dry-dropper, tie 16–24" of 4–5X off the bend to a small nymph or pupa. Shorten leaders (7.5–9 ft) in tight, broken water.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing. Dress wing and hackle with gel/paste; revive with a powder/shake desiccant after a dunk or fish.
Satisfaction
30-day returns/exchanges.
