A sparse, low-riding emerger that fools picky trout during mixed mayfly hatches. The RS2 (Gray) shows a slender, segmented body, tiny split tail, and a subtle wing/shuck that sits in the film—exactly what fish key on when small olives and pale mayflies trickle.
-
When it excels: Early spring through fall during BWO/PMD-style hatches; overcast or calm evenings; soft seams, slick glides, and glassy tailouts
-
Why it works: Neutral gray abdomen and understated wing/shuck read “vulnerable emerger”; ultra-sparse profile lands softly and drifts naturally on fine tippet
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Clean, consistent proportions for long, drag-free presentations; ties in perfectly as a dry-dropper trailer
How to fish it
Use a 9–12 ft leader with 5X–6X and present slightly above rise rings; feed slack with reach or slack-line casts so it sits in the film. Fish it 12–24" under a small dry as a sighter, or dead-drift solo; at the end of each drift, add a gentle lift to mimic an emerging takeoff.
Care
Blot dry after a fish and refresh with a powder/shake desiccant. Keep the body and shuck mostly untreated to preserve the low, in-the-film posture; dress only any wing lightly if needed.
Satisfaction
30-day returns/exchanges.
