A subtle, low-riding caddis dry tuned for slicks and gentle seams. The Slow Water Caddis (Brown) uses a sparse brown body, slim hackle, and a light hair/film-hugging wing to throw a delicate, natural silhouette that fools selective trout in calm water.
-
When it excels: Late spring through early fall during evening caddis activity; spring creeks, tailouts, back eddies, and glassy glides
-
Why it works: Minimal hackle and a soft, film-riding wing keep the footprint subtle; brown body matches common adult caddis without extra bulk or shine
-
Pack size: 3 flies
-
Targets: Trout (rainbow, brown, brook)
-
Ready to fish: Sparse, clean tie with consistent proportions for long, drag-free presentations on fine tippet
How to fish it
Use a 10–12 ft leader with 5X–6X and make reach or slack-line casts to feed the drift over rise rings and foam lines. Keep dressing light—treat the wing lightly and leave most of the abdomen untreated. Add tiny micro-twitches if fish inspect but won’t commit; try a downstream presentation to keep line off the fish.
Care
Rinse after use and air-dry before boxing. Refresh with a powder/shake desiccant after a dunk or fish; avoid heavy gel that would bulk up the low-in-the-film ride.
Satisfaction
30-day returns/exchanges.
